On March 5, 2007, Sharon Kleyne interviewed Maya Dolena on the very first Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water radio talk show broadcast. Ms. Dolena is a former Hewlett Packard executive turned lifestyle coach who moved to Hawaii to establish a wellness and empowerment retreat. The interview, covering computer eye strain, dry eye, lifestyle, water, dehydration and occupational health, is still relevant today.

Maya Dolena's background.

Sharon asked about Maya Dolena's background. Ms. Dolena is in her 50s and grew up in Texas. She later moved to California, married and earned a degree in computer science. Nineteen years ago, she was hired by Hewlett Packard, starting as a computer software engineer and working her way into executive management.

She became involved with lifestyle coaching because in her management work, she became involved with occupational health and increasing worker productivity. She used a lifestyle education program called "The Winning Edge" and ended up a full-time lifestyle coach for Hewlett Packard, winning several awards. She later moved to Hawaii and started her own program, which incorporated spirituality and yoga.

Healthy computer use.

Ms. Dolena mentioned a book called Hidden Messages in Water, by a Japanese scientist named Masaru Emoto. Emoto found that clean water, when frozen, forms well defined crystals whereas dirty water forms stunted, irregular crystals. If you take dirty water and infuse it with positive thoughts, the crystals improve. And if you take pure water and infuse it with negative thoughts, the crystals get worse. Since we are 70% water, we have to wonder what negative thoughts might do to us.
