Michael Levenston, PhD (Toronto, ONT, CA), Director of City Farm in Toronto. "Gardening in the Big City."
Dr. Levenston is involved in city gardening in Toronto and is Executive Director of the non-profit "City Farmer" organization. They promote planter boxes, rooftop gardens and community gardens. This is becoming increasingly popular.
Sharon suggested arugula as a home garden plant that is easy to grow and extremely nutritious.
The city runs a demonstration garden downtown. This can save participants, who tend to be poor, a lot of money in food costs and transportation.
