Monologue.

Sharon welcomed the listeners and talked about the importance of water in life and life in water. She said that it is imperative for everyone to realize the importance of water, to drink plenty of water and to carry water with them if they are unsure of a water source. Dehydration, or lack of water, is out of control in our world and causes or contributes to ailments from allergies to obesity.

Guest: Diane Tegarden

Diane Tegarden (Pasadena,CA), author of Anti-Vigilante and the Rips in Time. "A Preventable Vision of the Future."

Ms. Tegarden is an environmental journalist who writes about the impending "water wars" as the population grows and fresh water becomes scarcer.

Water originating in the Colorado Rockies supplies seven states and Colorado may one day decide to keep all its water.

In California, a battle is shaping up between water for agricultural irrigation and community drinking water. Actually, we need both and this should be resolved by sharing, not fighting.

Catchwater systems (on the roof) and other conservation systems could become essential.

Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Texas and California have arid areas and restrictions on water usage. There are water sources but you can only conserve so much.

Desalination of ocean water is expensive but the technology has been there for years and it may become the only option. It is very important in Israel. There is much stored energy in sea water and it can also be desalinated with solar energy.

Ms. Tegarden's book is Anti-Vigilante and the Rips in Time: A Preventable Vision of the Future."
